Vice President of Medical Affairs
Dr. Colleen A. Hanlon has served as Vice President of Medical Affairs since 2022.
Dr. Hanlon has over 20 years of clinical research experience in non-invasive brain stimulation, functional and structural brain imaging. Before joining BrainsWay, she led multidisciplinary clinical research programs at the Medical University of South Carolina and Wake Forest School of Medicine. She rapidly ascended through the ranks of faculty in academia and was given the International Brain Stimulation Early Career Award in 2023. She has published over 100 manuscripts, delivered over 100 invited talks and continuing medical education (CME) sessions globally, and contributed to over 10 book chapters. Recognized as a pioneer in the field of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) drug and alcohol addiction, she received over $15 million in support from the National Institute of Health to develop noninvasive brain stimulation therapies to patients with a variety of psychiatric and neurologic disorders.
Dr. Hanlon loves science – and her passion for therapeutic neuromodulation, like Deep TMS, brain- is infectious. From middle school students through seasoned professors, she has been inspiring others about the power and potential of brain stimulation therapeutics for many years. She has directly mentored over 60 professional trainees in the field of brain imaging and TMS research, many of whom have gone on to lead their own laboratories, clinics, and join the medical device industry. Dr. Hanlon is highly regarded as an eloquent, enthusiastic teacher, and she looks forward to each opportunity she has to engage with providers, with healthcare leaders, with patients, entrepreneurs, and with community interest groups.
In her role as Vice President of Medical Affairs, Dr. Hanlon leads both the clinical trials strategy as well as the medical education mission of BrainsWay. She is proud to work for a company that has a strong, enduring tradition for investing in new clinical indications for TMS, bringing this promising treatment to patients with a variety of brain-based diseases. She enjoys working closely with the talented pool of people here at BrainsWay as well as the large and growing network of our providers throughout the world.
Dr. Hanlon received a B.S. from the University of Florida in 2001 and a Ph.D. in Neurobiology from Duke University in 2005.
